ITRI will hold a seminar on the 20th and 21st of this month, combining for the first time the "Taiwan International Lighting Technology Exhibition" and the "LED Taiwan Manufacturing Exhibition," and will include discussion of emerging OLED lighting technology.

In 2014, the LED lighting market will continue to grow and gradually replace traditional lighting. This year's seminar will be held starting on the 20th at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, with special invitations extended to several benchmark major companies from Europe, the United States, Asia and Taiwan, China, as well as experts and scholars in related fields, to give speeches, including experts from Panasonic, Philips, Merck, Aixtron, Konica Minolta, the Professional Lighting Designers' Association (PLDA) of Australia and other organizations.

In addition, there will also be the University of Leeds in the UK, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the United States, Epistar, Lextar Electronics and others, discussing important development topics and trends such as advances in smart lighting and applications, organic light-emitting diode (OLED) lighting technology, advanced LED lighting technology, challenges in LED manufacturing and new technologies for solid-state lighting production.

ITRI pointed out that the conference invited the Lighting Research Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to share "Innovative Development and Application of Smart Lighting," and the International Development Office and Design Office of PLDA to share the opportunities and challenges of LED from the perspective of lighting designers.

Lextar Electronics will use the title "LED Natural Light Smart Lighting" to discuss how the multicolor and dimmable characteristics of LED can create special atmospheres for lighting spaces; Philips will share the topic "Value-Driven LED Lighting Application Research."

In addition to LED lighting, OLED lighting technology, which is thin, flexible and has natural-light-like characteristics, has also grown rapidly recently and is regarded as the next-generation solid-state lighting source. At the seminar, companies such as Panasonic, Merck and Konica Minolta will also discuss OLED technology, materials, future technology applications and luminaire design.
