National General Chamber of Commerce re-election: Lai Cheng-yi: The arrow is already on the string

(Taiwan Business News) The dispute over the re-election of the National General Chamber of Commerce's board of directors and supervisors has been full of twists and turns. Incumbent chairman Lai Cheng-yi stressed yesterday that the relevant election affairs are already on the string, and that an explanation will certainly be given within 3 days as required by the Ministry of the Interior, and the members' general meeting will be held as scheduled on the 21st to re-elect the board of directors and supervisors.
The re-election of the 9th board of directors and supervisors of the National General Chamber of Commerce has erupted in controversy. The Ministry of the Interior had originally agreed to the chamber's re-election on the 21st, but on the 13th it again issued a letter requiring the chamber to explain within 3 days the objections raised by former chairman Zhang Ping-zhao, and to supplement the supporting documentary evidence for the recommended convener, in order to be prudent.
Lai Cheng-yi reiterated that he was elected with a high vote count, and that the seal of office had already been handed over on the day of the election on December 17 last year. It was the Ministry of the Interior that asked him to accept a re-election, saying that this way "one can walk with style and be elected gloriously," so he reluctantly accepted, and the relevant election affairs are now already on the string.
Lai Cheng-yi said that the Ministry of the Interior should handle the matter impartially and not back down just because a small number of people have objections. He called on all member representatives to attend the vote on the 21st enthusiastically and, through practical action, uphold the chamber's excellent image.
