South Korea's two major phone makers to battle it out in Taiwan next week

The Korean brands Samsung and LG have coincidentally chosen the same day to unveil their new products in Taiwan, with the Galaxy S5 and LG G Pro 2 set to duel on the island on the 19th.

Samsung and LG previously announced their 2014 flagship phones around the time of the Mobile World Congress (MWC). To grab Taiwan's attention first, next week they will separately hold new product launch events in Taiwan. Coincidentally, the two major Korean brands will choose the same day, the 19th, to take the stage and compete.

Riding on the popularity of its S series, which has accumulated 200 million users worldwide, Samsung's Galaxy S5 will hold its Taiwan launch event on the 19th, focusing on the fifth power of mobile intelligence: "entertainment, speed, life, health, fashion." Pre-orders are expected to begin at the same time next week.

LG's latest flagship model, the G Pro 2, focuses on four major areas of functionality: eye-opening visuals, heart-stirring sound, perfect photo records, and worry-free privacy and security. LG's annual spokesperson Selina will also interact with a mystery guest at the launch event to demonstrate the G Pro 2's latest evolved UX features.

Not to let the Korean brands steal all the spotlight, HTC is expected to hold the global debut of its flagship phone, codenamed M8, on March 25. But chairwoman Cher Wang has hinted that this flagship phone will go on sale much faster than before, and the market expects Taiwan may get to see the new phone before the end of March. In addition, Japanese brand Sony's new flagship phone, the Z2, features a 5.2-inch screen, and its new product is expected to hit the Taiwan market as early as March.

In other words, the tsunami of flagship phones unleashed by the major phone brands will arrive in Taiwan one after another. Before the end of March this year, Taiwan's smartphone market will be very lively, and is also eager to stimulate overall smartphone sales growth.
