Sun Dacheng, Ambassador of the Republic of China to Guatemala, and Zhao Guoliang, representative of the ASUS Foundation, went to Quiche Province on the 7th local time to co-host a ceremony at a public primary school in a Mayan community to donate ASUS laptops and establish an ASUS Digital Learning Classroom.

In his speech, Sun Dacheng said that this ASUS computer donation was made at the request of Guatemala's Council on Indigenous Peoples and would benefit 171 students at the Mayan indigenous school. The school is in Rio

Mactzul village, Chichicastenango city, located in a remote and underdeveloped mountainous area, with inconvenient external transportation and extremely scarce teaching resources.

Sun Dacheng said that the ASUS computer donation would help students improve their learning outcomes, and he also praised Zhao Guoliang, ASUS Foundation representative in Guatemala and president of the Guatemala-China Chamber of Commerce, for his efforts in helping bring it about.

At the invitation of Estuardo Galdmez, a member of Congress elected from that province, Sun Dacheng and three others traveled from the Guatemala City airport to the school by 2 helicopters and accompanied the group throughout; another member of Congress, Gimmy Ren, was also present to welcome them. The 2 members of Congress, the school principal, the parents' association, and representatives of the Ministry of Education and the Council on Indigenous Peoples all spoke to thank the embassy and Zhao Guoliang for their generous assistance, and Sun Dacheng also accepted an interview with a local television reporter.
