New Taipei Model Foreign Workers Selection List Announced

(Taiwan Business News) The results of this year's New Taipei City Model Foreign Worker selection are out! A total of 61 people entered this year. After the New Taipei City Labor Affairs Bureau conducted on-site visits to understand the actual work situations of the candidates, based on 5 criteria including work performance, initiative in learning, moral conduct, optimism and willingness to help others, and special achievements, 5 people were selected in the family category and 5 in the business and institution category as this year's model foreign worker role models. They will be presented with awards and commended by Mayor Eric Chu on April 24.

The foreign workers selected this time all performed exceptionally well. In the family category, for example, HAYYU DERITA (Lida), an Indonesian national in Xinzhuang District, has been in Taiwan for 5 and a half years. Caring for a disabled grandfather, whether helping him get up, wash up, use the toilet, or take medicine, she does it all gladly and never complains. Lida is full of energy every day and enables the taciturn grandfather to chat and laugh; she is the grandfather's little ray of sunshine. She is full of enthusiasm and talent for learning Mandarin and Taiwanese, and once won first place and the Best Performance Award in a singing competition, making her employer's whole family proud.

In the business and institution category, ANDIK DWI EFENDI (Dike), an Indonesian national, came to Taiwan 4 and a half years ago and works in factory operations at Taiwan Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd. Dike has a proactive, diligent, and responsible work attitude, carefully considers more labor-saving ways of carrying and processes, and once designed a multi-purpose transport cart that improved the company's production efficiency. Dike also set up a Sanyo foreign worker community page on Facebook to help promote communication between foreign workers and company supervisors, and proactively maintains the company dormitory environment, encouraging other colleagues to jointly create a warm and comfortable home, deeply earning the recognition of his employer and colleagues.
