Taishan, New Taipei City, strives for transformation, incorporated into Greater Xinzhuang development

(Taiwan Business News) To achieve the goal of building Taishan into an emerging regional development center of Greater Xinzhuang, the New Taipei City Government is actively handling the "Change of the Taishan Urban Plan (Second Comprehensive Review)" case. The entire case has been reviewed and approved by the Urban Planning Committee of the Ministry of the Interior, and is expected to be announced and implemented in the second half of the year.
Acting Director Qiu Jingbin of the Urban and Rural Development Department of New Taipei City stated that when the government handles comprehensive urban plan review operations, the protection of the public's property rights should be the top priority. Through handling the 1/1000 plan map remaking operation, the precision of urban plan maps is improved, and private land that was designated as public facility land in the early period possibly due to surveying precision at the time or mapping errors is restored to its original use rights after taking into account actual housing conditions and the usage needs of the land-using agencies; and for public facility reserved land that has long not been expropriated, in coordination with the city government's policy of halving expropriation of public facilities, a "General Principles for Feedback on Changes to Public Facility Land in the Taishan Urban Planning Area" is formulated to release public facility land that is not needed and return it to the public.
In addition, the key points of this revision also include coordinating with current development conditions to open up and widen bottleneck east-west traffic sections such as the Quanxing Road intersection, Taili Street, Hankou Street, and Lane 351, Section 3, Mingzhi Road, improving the connection of the road system between old and new development areas; and considering the transformation of the local area's industrial economy, drafting guiding principles for the transformation and change of industrial zones, and, in order to promote urban redevelopment and shape a good quality of life, introducing urban design regulations and urban renewal mechanisms to improve the urban environmental landscape of Taishan.
Through this comprehensive review, the urban structure is reshaped and industrial transformation and redevelopment are promoted, creating a high-quality livable environment in Taishan with the New Wutai emerging living circle in the north and the university town cultural and educational living circle in the south, and in the future further coordinating with the overall development vision of the Greater Xinzhuang area to develop toward an emerging regional center of the Greater Xinzhuang co-prosperity living circle.
