Looks Real but Is Fake: Tian Rongqian's Ocean World

(Taiwan Business News) Mural artist Tian Rongqian, who once became famous for painting "Cats on the Roof" in Dingxi Community, Huwei, Yunlin County, was invited by Huwei Township Mayor Lin Wenbin to paint an undersea world on the outer wall of the Huwei Library. Instead of painting cats, he painted fish, and the result was just as vivid and captivating.
Lin Wenbin said this ocean world carries profound meaning. Besides giving the library a refreshing feel, it also commemorates the library's predecessor, which was a "fish market," allowing people to read in the "Fish Market Library" with the implication of swimming freely through a sea of books.
Tian Rongqian, who became famous for painting cats, spent a week demonstrating his skills again. In this ocean world, the waves on the sea surface and the quiet fish swimming in the deep sea form a contrast between motion and stillness, full of dynamism whether viewed from afar or up close.
Tian Rongqian was originally a cinema billboard painter. Last year, he lost his job and drank to relieve his sorrow, was caught for drunk driving, and was sentenced to community service. Using his painting expertise, he painted walls for Dingxi Community in Huwei, and his creation "Cats on the Roof" caused a national sensation, allowing him to "turn misfortune into a blessing" with endless invitations, finding a new life in the world of mural painting.
The ocean world under Tian Rongqian's brush is as illusory as it is real, achieving the same brilliant effect as the cat world, and many people have given him a like.
