(Taiwan Business News) This year the Taichung Mazu International Tourism and Culture Festival held a "Five Major Themes Creative Call for Entries." The first-prize work in the mobile phone sticker group was announced yesterday (the 22nd) by Deputy Mayor Cai Bingkun. Starting yesterday, eight Mazu-themed stickers are available for free download by the public on the domestically developed Juiker APP communication platform.

Deputy Mayor Cai said that to celebrate Mazu's birthday in the third lunar month, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Taichung City Government invited the Ming Hwa Yuan Arts and Cultural Group last year to create a Mazu opera; this year it held a "Five Major Themes Creative Call for Entries," inviting the public to design five kinds of creations - mobile phone stickers, animations, micro films, comics, and picture books - based on the origins, stories, and features of Taichung City's major Mazu temples.

The Taichung City Government specially chose today, Mazu's birthday, during the Taichung Mazu International Tourism and Culture Festival to announce the first-prize mobile phone sticker work. Starting today, eight cute chibi-style Mazu mobile phone stickers are available for free download by the public on the Juiker APP. Deputy Mayor Cai said,

Juiker is a domestically made communication APP, developed by the Industrial Technology Research Institute under commission from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, so as not to let South Korea's LINE APP take all the credit. Since its launch in November last year it has reached 1.1 million users, and in the second half of the year it is expected to expand globally, bringing Taichung's Mazu culture to the world.

The first-prize winner of the Taichung Mazu International Tourism and Culture Festival, Zhou Yuxian, is 34 years old this year. During his student years he studied spatial design and architecture. This sticker design mainly uses everyday expressions, hoping to be close to people's daily lives, and combines them with Mazu's friendly, people-loving image to design stickers such as "holy cup," "blessing," and "love you for a lifetime"; in addition, stickers such as "see you" and "call me" cleverly incorporate the features of the thousand-mile "eye" and the favorable-wind "ear," with cute and eye-catching designs.

Ye Shushan, Director of the Taichung City Cultural Affairs Bureau, said that the other four major themes are still open for entries. Submissions for the micro film group are accepted from now until July 18, with a first prize of 800,000 yuan; submissions for the picture book, comic, and animation groups are accepted from July 7 to 18, with first prizes of 500,000 yuan each for picture books, comics, and short animations, and a first prize of as much as 3 million yuan for long-form animation.
