Hyacinth is a plant with extremely strong vitality, and besides its toughness, the bulb itself serves an important purpose. If used well, you can even grow several new hyacinths from it. It is fair to say that keeping hyacinths growing is no longer a problem. So how should hyacinth bulbs be used?

In fact, using hyacinth bulbs to grow hyacinths can be divided into two methods: soil culture and water culture.

First, if using soil culture, we need to prepare the nutrient soil required for soil culture. Then process the bulbs you bought: remove all the withered skin on the surface, and use scissors to clean up all the dried-out roots.

In the second step, we should disinfect and sterilize the hyacinth bulbs. You can use carbendazim diluted with water at a ratio of 1:1000. Then put the whole bulb into the water to soak, wait half an hour, take it out and let it dry. Next, we can pour the water used for soaking onto the nutrient soil, stir it slightly just to moisten the nutrient soil, then cover the flowerpot with a bag and wait for disinfection.

After completing the preparation steps above, you can plant the hyacinth bulb. At the beginning of planting, bury the bulb only one third deep, place the flowerpot in a cool and ventilated place, and after about half a month you will find that the bulb has taken root. After that, just carry out normal care. After the hyacinth's flowering period has passed for a while, we can dig out the bulbs it has propagated and use them again. At this point, dig them out, take them to a ventilated place and wait, then take them out again at the next planting time.

Besides soil culture for the bulbs as mentioned above, you can also grow the bulbs in water. The water culture method starts with steps similar to soil culture: first process the bulbs, then prepare some glass bottles specially used for water culture. Note that the bottle mouth must not be larger than the bulb; it should be two sizes smaller than the bulb. Then first let the water in the bottle evaporate a little, so that some impurities are removed first. Next, you can put the bulb into the bottle. The water in the bottle must not completely cover the bottom of the bulb; it is best to keep the bulb at a distance of about 1cm from the water surface, otherwise if the bulb touches the water, it will easily become moldy and rot.

Care methods:

1. When the hyacinth shows flower buds, we can fertilize it once, so the flowers that bloom will look even better.

2. When rooting in water culture, mold spots may appear on the lower bulb; just wipe them off with a paper towel.

3. For the soil culture method, watering the bulb needs to follow the principle of not watering until it is dry. When the temperature is relatively low in winter, it should be placed under the sun to bask.

4. For water culture bulbs, you should change the water between half a month and one month; if you find that the water has impurities, you can change the water for the bulb.

The above are the ways to use hyacinth bulbs. After reading this, do you all feel that it was a great pity to throw the bulbs away before? If you have any other questions about growing them, welcome to comment in the comment section below.
