Pansy propagation methods include sowing, cuttings and division. Sowing: well-drained soil, scatter the seeds and cover with 1-2cm of thin soil, shade them until seedlings emerge; Cuttings: healthy non-flowering stems, 8-15cm is ideal, roots form in 2-3 weeks after; Division: cut off side shoots, transplant them into soil, and after 1-2 weeks resume normal care.

1. Propagation by sowing

Choose well-developed seeds and scatter them in well-drained soil with a medium pH of 5.5-5.8, then cover with a thin layer of coarse vermiculite or medium sand about 1-2cm thick. After sowing, keep the medium temperature at 18-22°C and provide shade. Seedlings emerge in 5-7 days; during this period keep the soil medium moist.

2. Propagation by cuttings

Choose well-growing, sturdy stems, not flowering stems, with a length of 8-15cm. Before inserting the cuttings, first poke a small hole in the soil to prevent breaking the stems. Cuttings are usually taken in summer or autumn, and roots form after 2-3 weeks, after which normal care can resume.

3. Propagation by division

Carry out division propagation after flowering. Cut off side shoots with adventitious roots, or new rooted shoots sprouting from the rhizome, with a length of 10-15cm. Poke holes in the soil, plant the divided rooted shoots into the soil, and let them recover in semi-shade. After 1-2 weeks, move the plants into the light for normal care.
