New Taipei City Gold Museum: First-Time Gold Mine Tunnel Experience for Mother's Day

(Taiwan Business Daily News) For the annual Mother's Day, the New Taipei City Gold Museum, in order to let mothers who work hard every day experience the uniquely distinctive Ben Mountain No. 5 Tunnel on this special day, specially held the "Mine Mama Fun" and "Glamorous Mommy" activities.
Unlike the unstable weather of the previous two days, the mountain town welcomed beautiful sunshine, which also attracted many people to bring their families to experience the mine. Among them were a Korean mother who came with her 2 daughters, and a group of Taiwanese mothers who happened to be on a tour bus participating in a one-day tour of Shuinandong, Jinguashi and Jiufen. When they arrived at the museum, they discovered that they had happened to come across the Mother's Day discount, and all the mothers exclaimed, "So lucky! We really got a great deal~"
On Sunday, Jinguashi was bright with sunshine, and the "Ben Mountain No. 5 Tunnel," which stays at 17 degrees year-round, was just right for visitors to enter and tour! The Ben Mountain No. 5 Tunnel was created by renovating the old mining tunnel from back then and opening part of its section, using wax figures to display the mining process of that time, simulating the working conditions of the miners then, and also featuring an sensor-activated audio guide that, through dialogue between characters, lets visitors better understand the details of real mine tunnel work.
Coinciding with Mother's Day, the Gold Museum specially held "Mine Mama Fun," with free tunnel experiences for mothers, and the first 100 groups of adults and children visiting the tunnel together with their mothers could also, at the tunnel entrance, wear miner safety helmets and take free "Glamorous Mommy" Polaroid commemorative photos with their mothers! Every mother happily pulled her children along to take a rare keepsake photo together, and the take-away souvenirs were highly praised, being all claimed before 2 p.m.
The biggest savings came for a family of four generations under one roof, with a total of 3 mommies entering the tunnel for free together. The great-grandmother, leaning on a cane, also experienced the unique space of the mine tunnel accompanied by her children and grandchildren, leaving behind a rare memory.
