Things to note when raising laying ducks

Fright: after being startled, laying ducks drop in egg production and lay soft-shelled eggs, so when herding ducks in the open field, do not chase them hard or shout loudly.

Heat: ducks have no sweat glands, so in summer when daytime temperatures are high, put them in a shady place, and at night when the shed is hot, they can roost outdoors overnight.

Disease: laying ducks must be vaccinated in good time to prevent and treat duck plague, duck cholera and other diseases.

Poison: when grazing ducks in the open field, strictly guard against pesticides and other harmful substances.

Age: as ducks grow older, the laying rate gradually declines, so old ducks should be replaced with new ones in good time.

No night feed: ducks have the habit of foraging at night, so feed and water must be provided at night to ensure the ducks are neither thirsty nor hungry.

Improper male-to-female ratio: laying ducks have a strong sex drive, so an appropriate number of male ducks should be included in the flock; the suitable ratio is 25:1.

Insufficient feed nutrition: laying duck feed must be rich in nutrients, with all kinds of nutritional components reasonably balanced. Generally, fine feed such as rice grain accounts for 60%, protein feed such as fish meal accounts for 20%, and bran cake and rapeseed cake account for 20%. In addition, for every 100 kg of feed, add 2 kg of bone meal, 0.3 kg of salt and 20 g of multivitamins.
