Birth registration and health insurance card application, done in one go in Taipei City

(Taiwan Business News) Starting from May 20, when handling birth registration in Taipei City, applications for a newborn's "dependent enrollment" and the "production of a photo-free health insurance card" can be accepted at the same time. It is hoped that while sharing the joy of citizens, it can also help citizens secure both health and good fortune!

In order to make it convenient for citizens to apply for a health insurance card at the same time when handling birth registration for a newborn in the family, the Taipei City Government has cooperated with the National Health Insurance Administration. Starting from the 20th, when handling birth registration at the household registration offices of each district in Taipei City, applications for a newborn's "dependent enrollment" and the "production of a photo-free health insurance card" can be accepted at the same time. Staff at the household registration office will proactively ask applicants whether they are willing to apply for the newborn's "enrollment as a dependent of the father or mother" and the "production of a photo-free health insurance card." If so, the household registration office will transmit the service information to the National Health Insurance Administration. After receiving it, the National Health Insurance Administration will immediately process the newborn's enrollment matters and produce a photo-free health insurance card to send to the parents. At the same time, it will notify the health insurance enrollment unit of the newborn's father or mother that the enrollment declaration procedures have been completed, so that new parents only need to go to the household registration office to complete the newborn's birth registration, dependent enrollment, and health insurance card application all in one go. There is no need to attach additional documents, and no extra fee is required, saving people the time and money of traveling to two places to apply. It is truly very convenient!

In addition, the Taipei City Government has cooperated with the National Health Insurance Administration to handle the "health insurance card replacement operation for changes in identity information." If people apply at a Taipei City household registration office for a name change, unified number change, or date of birth change, they can also apply to replace their health insurance card at the same time. The household registration office will transmit the service information to the National Health Insurance Administration. After receiving the notification, the National Health Insurance Administration will immediately produce the card and send the health insurance card to the person concerned. This service is scheduled to begin being accepted after system testing is completed in July of year 103.
