Ruifang Water-Friendly Trail lets you get a little closer

(Taiwan Business News) To meet the water-friendly needs of residents in the Sanzhuazikeng area of Ruifang, the New Taipei City Government has built a 360-meter riverside landscape trail along the Keelung River from Ruifeng Bridge to Ruifang Junior High School. It not only provides local residents with a space for recreation and exercise, but will also become a new stop for tourists to visit along the way.

In the past, to prevent years of flooding from the Keelung River, the Sanzhuazikeng area of Ruifang District in New Taipei City installed wave-dissipating blocks along the riverside to reduce river erosion. However, after the Yuanshanzi flood diversion was completed in the 91st year of the Republic of China, flooding no longer occurred in the area. To reactivate and reuse the top surface space where the wave-dissipating blocks were originally placed, the High Riverbank Engineering Management Office of the New Taipei City Government planned to preserve the local natural landscape, used the existing environment to create a water-friendly trail, and repaired the stairs and installed handrails, anti-slip strips, and other safety facilities, allowing the public to rest and stroll safely and with peace of mind in the riverside space, and to observe egrets and the ecological landscape along the Keelung River from a closer distance.

This project started in mid-February of the 103rd year of the Republic of China, and local residents were all eagerly looking forward to its early completion. During the project, the High Riverbank Engineering Management Office also actively overcame the unfavorable rainy conditions in the Ruifang area and completed the project 1 month earlier than the scheduled progress. Once completed, the public is welcome to visit this ecological water-friendly trail along the upper reaches of the Keelung River.
