Cathay Charity Foundation supports the "Cathay KITURU Dream Realization Project" at eight elementary schools across Taiwan, China

The KITURU Project helps teachers and students of Lijia Elementary School in Taitung explore the beautiful island
(Taiwan Business News) This year, the Cathay Charity Foundation is carrying out the "Cathay KITURU Dream Realization Project," inviting children in remote areas to bravely speak their dreams and, through the process of achieving goals, understand that dreams must begin with self-practice! The results presentation will be held on 6/20, to witness the touching stories of children pursuing their dreams.
Lijia Elementary School in Taitung County is located on the mountain foothills southwest of the outskirts of Taitung City, with the Central Mountain Range at its back, facing the Taitung Beinan River alluvial plain and the vast Pacific Ocean, with a distant view of Green Island and Orchid Island. With its beautiful natural environment, it is a simple and quiet rural elementary school. Chen Jiaqi, a sixth-grade teacher at Lijia Elementary School, once led the children in reading the book "My Own Ouyat Express," sparking the students' enthusiasm for visiting historic sites.
The week-long exploration journey allowed these children from the Puyuma tribe in Taitung to personally come into contact with historic sites in various places, learn to use sincere writing to record every subtle moment of emotion during the journey, discover the beauty of Taiwan's historical footprints and humanities and arts, and compose one "Taiwan special edition of their own" after another.
Secretary-General Gong Zhirong, who recently visited Lijia Elementary School, said that the exquisitely hand-drawn books by the children, together with their moving and wonderful introductions, made people feel as if they were there in person and deeply feel their dedication, as well as their familiarity with Taiwan's history. He believes that their investment in culture plus their journey of pursuing dreams provides a very good interpretation and demonstration of the "unity of knowledge and action." As long as there is creativity plus effort, he hopes that the potential of children in remote areas can be brought into full play.
