Bank of Taiwan 68th Anniversary Charity Sale Raises Over 1.8 Million to Care for the Disadvantaged and Seniors

(Taiwan Business News) To celebrate the 68th anniversary of Bank of Taiwan's founding, Taiwan Financial Holdings Group held the "Spread Love Charity Sale Fair" on May 17 at Ximending Red House in Taipei, China, combining a charity sale, blood donation and game booths, inviting the public to subscribe to happiness and "do good together." The event received an overwhelming response, with the scene buzzing with excitement as many people came with their families to spend a joyful weekend filled with love and care.
Under the call of Lee Chi-chu, Chairman of Taiwan Financial Holdings and Bank of Taiwan, this event featured a "charity sale fair" unlike any before and full of special meaning. It received an enthusiastic response from colleagues across the group, who donated unused items in 80% new condition, or even brand-new goods from their homes. In just over a month, over ten thousand items were collected for the charity sale. Executives within the group also eagerly joined in the donation drive: some provided a jigsaw puzzle of Winterhalter's 19th-century empress and her ladies-in-waiting that they had treasured for years, some provided photographic artworks worth over ten thousand yuan, some donated the calligraphy of famous masters, as well as designer bags and electronic goods, making for a dazzling and richly varied array of charity sale items. Through loving purchases at the charity sale, about 80% of the goods were sold, raising a total of over NT$1.8 million in donations, which, along with the remaining goods, were all donated to the Genesis Foundation and the Catholic Foundation of Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementia.
Lee Chi-chu, Chairman of Bank of Taiwan, stated that in response to an aging society, caring for the health and financial needs of seniors and safeguarding their quality of life and dignity has become a social trend. This event was therefore specially planned with "caring for the elderly" as its main focus, with proceeds from the charity sale donated to the Alzheimer's foundation to put elderly care into action. In addition, the bank is actively planning to promote an innovative "elderly care trust" financial service, expected to be rolled out across all branches in September this year, allowing people to independently plan their later years through a "standardized care trust," establishing a life mechanism that gives seniors dignity and economic security.
The day's event opened powerfully with a taiko drum performance by children with Down syndrome, followed by a soulful performance by the bank's basketball team member Cheng Hao-hsuan, a hot song-and-dance number by emerging host Jung Chung-hao, and a singing-and-dancing performance by gaming goddess Anna, full of energy that ignited the passion of the crowd. Various fun and entertaining game booths were also set up, using playful interaction to convey financial knowledge and correct concepts of integrity and the rule of law to the public, as well as the belief in "an honest society, a clean government," combining education with entertainment and leaving everyone with fulfilling and heartwarming memories!
At the end of the event, Lee Chi-chu, Chairman of Bank of Taiwan, on behalf of Taiwan Financial Holdings Group, donated the charity sale proceeds to the Genesis Foundation and the Catholic Foundation of Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementia respectively. In addition, the blood donation drive collected 150 bags of blood to save lives. They sincerely thanked all the people who participated on site and all colleagues of Taiwan Financial Holdings Group for their love, and called on everyone to embody the spirit of "respecting one's own elders as well as the elders of others," letting love spread.
