The Feeding Training Method for Wild Rice Field Eel Culture

Wild rice field eels need feeding training to quickly start eating artificial feed. That is: at first, feed only some earthworms, clams, fly maggots, small fish and small shrimp, and other foods that rice field eels like to eat. After a few days, gradually add some artificial feed. Finally, use little or none of the fresh bait mentioned above, and feed only artificial special feed for rice field eels. Taking a 6 sq m cage as an example, feeding training is successful within 15 days: at the beginning, use 1 jin of earthworms, clams, fly maggots, small fish and small shrimp, and other fresh and live bait that rice field eels like to eat, crush them and feed them every day. After 5 days, gradually add a small amount of special feed for rice field eels. After 10 days, gradually reduce the fresh and live bait and increase the amount of special feed for rice field eels. By the 15th day, reach the normal feeding amount: 6 liang of fresh bait and 2 liang of special feed for rice field eels, eaten within two hours, which means the feeding training is successful.

Four Key Elements of Feeding Training

1. There should not be too little or too much aquatic grass, and it should not be too thick or too thin. Taking a 6 sq m cage as an example, aquatic grass should be evenly spread over 1 sq m, 20 cm thick.

2. The opening feed (that is, fresh and live bait) must be placed in large amounts. The daily feeding amount should be more than 5% of the rice field eel's weight. Do not be afraid of waste.

3. There should be many feeding points. A 6 sq m cage must have no fewer than 4 feeding points.

4. Earthworms must be added, and rice field eel feeding attractant must also be added. It is best to add a little binder.
