Wanbaolu Biotech Underwriting Case Mandated to Cathay Securities as Lead Underwriter

(Taiwan Business News) Optimistic about the biotechnology industry boom and the potential of the health market, Cathay Securities announced on the 20th that it has partnered with Taiwan-based natural enzyme developer Wanbaolu Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and formally signed an agreement to serve as lead underwriter for its IPO. Wanbaolu uses "One Power" as its own brand to promote "functional fermented health foods," and owns Taiwan's largest professional automated enzyme factory and the first tourism factory in Pingtung; in March of this year it established the Enzyme Brand Culture Hall, with a total area of 8,000 ping, aiming to capture domestic tourism, mainland Chinese visitor, and Southeast Asian business opportunities.

Enzymes, also known as the "magicians of life," serve as important mediators of metabolism in the human body and are key elements for maintaining health and vitality; however, as people age, the enzymes secreted by the body gradually decrease, and long-term dietary habits and chronic diseases (such as liver disease, stroke, or diabetes) can also cause insufficient enzyme secretion, leading to metabolic disorders and the onset of various disease symptoms. Wanbaolu Biotech Chairwoman Lin Shu-hui began investing in enzyme product research, development, and manufacturing in 2004, actively expanding sales channels and vertically integrating its operating model. Among these, its R&D and channel capabilities are the company's greatest competitive advantages. Its products have repeatedly won the National Quality Mark, and in 2007 it received Taiwan's highest honor in biotechnology, the "National Innovation Award."

In terms of sales channel layout, it covers approximately 1,500 clinics, pharmacies, and organic stores. In July 2012, it partnered with the large chain convenience store FamilyMart, selling through pre-orders, which greatly enhanced its distribution network; overseas market expansion has extended to Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, and other countries.

Chairwoman Lin Shu-hui stated that amid Taiwan's aging population and the trend of valuing health and wellness, the health food and natural enzyme markets are receiving considerable attention. Through listing on the stock exchange, the company can not only increase brand awareness and fundraising channels, but its greatest hope is to carry forward the philosophy of "dedicating itself to improving public health and quality of life."
