Farming methods for loach

Do you know what the main farming methods for loach are? Whichever farming method is chosen, the loach fry used must be disease-free and uninjured, soaked in 2% salt water for 10 minutes before they can be stocked. Now let us take a look at what the farming methods for loach are!

Pond farming

The rearing area is generally 100---150 sq m. A layer of soft mud is spread in the pond, preferably 20 cm. A feeding platform is set up, and the water depth is kept at 40---50 cm. Escape prevention facilities are installed for the water inlet and outlet of the farming pond. About 6 g loach fry are stocked at 40---50 tails per sq m. Feeding is mainly animal feed, with a daily feeding amount of 5%. After growing out, the yield is 2.5 kg of loach per sq m.

Trough (wooden box) farming

Stock 1.5 kg of loach seed, feed mainly animal feed, and after 7---8 months of rearing, each box can produce 10---15 kg of adult loach.

Rice paddy farming

Raise and reinforce the field ridges, install escape prevention facilities at the inlet and outlet, and dig “well”-shaped ditches in the field, 30-40 cm wide and 50 cm deep. Stock 1000---2000 loach fry per mu, use livestock manure and compost as base fertilizer, and feed bean cake, rapeseed cake, rice bran, etc. every day. Field management follows that of ordinary rice paddies, and pesticides should be highly efficient and low toxicity types, sprayed upward. After farming, each mu can produce more than 50 kg of adult loach.

For ponds in front of and behind houses, 0.1 kg of 5 cm long loach fry can be stocked per sq m, managed according to the pond farming method, and 30---40 kg of adult loach can be harvested.
