Shalu Gongming Elementary School East Building Renovation Opened

(Taiwan Business News) The east building of Gongming Elementary School in Shalu District was renovated with a subsidy from the Ministry of Education and was inaugurated yesterday (the 27th), giving the campus a completely new look; Wu Rong, Director-General of the Education Bureau of Taichung City, said he hopes the completion of the new building will give the students of Gongming Elementary School a better learning environment and let them grow up happily.

The construction of the east building of Gongming Elementary School was applied for to the Ministry of Education with the assistance of the Taichung City Government and Legislator Yang Chiung-ying. The Ministry of Education approved a subsidy of more than 70 million yuan in January of the 100th year of the Republic of China (2011), with the Taichung City Government Construction Bureau handling it on behalf. A 3-story building with one basement level was constructed. Ground was broken on March 12 of the 101st year of the Republic of China (2012), the building use license was obtained on March 21 of this year (the 103rd year of the Republic of China, 2014), and it was inaugurated today.

During the design of the building, the concept of "flipping" and the concept of "riding the sky and the earth" were proposed, creating a breakthrough overall design for the space; the school building has natural lighting design, conforms to green building standards, and is a modern environmental education building. The school gate entrance was also rebuilt to separate pedestrians and vehicles, increasing student safety when going to school.

Education Bureau Director-General Wu of the city government said the old school building was already more than 50 years old and dangerous. He thanked the Ministry of Education for allocating more than 70 million yuan to subsidize the construction of the new school building, and the Taichung City Government also allocated 5.5 million yuan to enrich the interior facilities, hoping that after the completion of the new school building the children will have a better learning environment and grow up happily. City councilors Yang Dianzhong and You Biling, and Shalu District Chief Chen Xiaofei, also attended to join in the occasion.
