Dodgeball Beauty Xinhu Elementary School Wins the Championship

(Taiwan Business News) Xinhu Elementary School's boys' and girls' dodgeball teams participated in the National Dodgeball Championship, with the boys' team finishing seventh and the girls' team winning first place nationwide, and furthermore earning qualification for the 2014 Asian Cup Dodgeball Championship. The teachers and parents cheering on site were all moved by their unrelenting fighting spirit.

Team captain Wen Zhihan was the tournament's best attacker. Her attacks were fast, powerful and accurate, knocking down opponents one by one, and she was the center of attention throughout, hitting opponents 126 times across 11 matches.

The boys' team's performance was no less impressive. Because the teams were close in strength, with fast, fierce and accurate ball speeds, victory or defeat could be reversed in an instant. Achieving seventh place was extremely difficult. This time they just missed the top six, which is somewhat regrettable! But they are not discouraged, hoping that next year their juniors can keep up the effort and also win back the Golden Dragon Flag for a repeat championship.

Principal Ke Xingyi of Xinhu Elementary School said: "Xinhu Elementary School's boys' and girls' dodgeball teams were established in the 101st academic year (2012). To achieve such a performance after three years of effort and dominate the nation - seeing the children perform so well on site truly makes me very proud. Last year the girls' team achieved sixth place nationwide, which was already very remarkable. This year they dominated the nation, and I am not only happy for them but also feel honored. Special thanks go to the coaching staff, who painstakingly trained them every day during morning light and lunch break, and on holidays invited already-graduated seniors to return to school to accompany them in practice, leading their juniors and sisters to grow considerably. This group of children, unafraid of hardship and unafraid of fatigue, gained full confidence through hard practice, striving to win every match, actively training their physical fitness and tactical formation changes every day according to the menu set out by the coaches, and through continuous drilling, they improved quite rapidly. Everyone was of one mind, and finally it bore fruit. In the competition they showed fighting spirit, broke through opponents' defensive weaknesses, and bravely won the championship - truly well deserved."
