How to mix crayfish feed formulas more scientifically

Crayfish feed formulas

The freshwater crayfish is a typical omnivorous animal; it eats both green grass and aquatic plants, as well as grain feed and animal feed. The basic requirements for the artificial compound bait usually sold on the market for crayfish are a protein content of 35-45%, a fat content of 6-12%, a carbohydrate content of 15-25%, and a cellulose content of about 20%. Now let us take a look at crayfish feed formulas together!

Crayfish feed ratios

Generally, plant-based bait accounts for about 60%, and animal-based bait accounts for about 40%. Among the plant-based bait, fruit-type and grass-type each account for half, about 30%. During the rearing process, according to the actual conditions of large, medium, and small (juvenile) crayfish, the above animal and plant feeds should be reasonably combined and appropriately adjusted.

Juvenile crayfish feed formulas

1. Formula 1: wheat bran 37%, fishmeal 35%, peanut cake 25%, clam shell powder 3%. The protein content of this formula is about 45%.

2. Formula 2: fishmeal 60%, wheat bran 22%, peanut cake 15%, minerals 3% and trace elements. The crude protein content of this formula is about 50%.

3. Formula 3: fishmeal 50%, wheat bran 20%, soybean cake 20% and trace elements. The crude protein content of this formula is about 45%.

Adult crayfish feed formulas

1. Formula 1: wheat bran 50%, silkworm pupae 30%, soybean cake 10%, rice bran 5%, peanut cake 5%.

2. Formula 2: wheat bran 30%, rice bran 22.5%, fishmeal 20%, peanut cake 20%, silkworm pupae 7.5%.

3. Formula 3: wheat bran 57%, fishmeal 35%, peanut cake 5%, clam shell powder 3%.

Summary: Throughout the entire aquaculture process for crayfish, the usage rates of formula feed and soybean cake are about 2.8% and 1.2% respectively. Crayfish still mainly rely on plant-based feed as the main component of their feed formula.
