Currently, this year's national purchase of new wheat is basically over, and wheat prices continue to rise. For corn, sowing has already been completed in most areas, and a new round of corn will be on the market in the next two months, so corn prices are naturally drawing close attention. Science Xingnong believes that autumn corn prices will show an upward trend this year.

This year's corn prices have already risen significantly compared with last year, and the biggest reason for the increase is, of course, the corn production problem. Because corn prices had been viewed unfavorably for the past few years, the national corn planting area has been shrinking continuously in recent years. In addition, due to China's huge soybean shortage, the country has consistently supported soybean planting, and expanding the soybean planting area naturally requires reducing the corn planting area; this is inevitable.

There is another rather special reason this year, namely the weather problem. Affected by weather, China's wheat production has already been greatly affected, and wheat prices have continued to rise from the start of harvesting to now. Likewise, this year Northeast China has suffered severe drought, corn emergence rates have been seriously affected, and corn seedlings are growing poorly, which will inevitably affect later corn production. As Northeast China is a major corn-producing region, its corn output is tied to the national corn output, and this is also why corn will rise in price this year.

After discussing the corn supply problem, let us now look at the current demand situation for corn. Let us look at a set of data: figures from the China Starch Industry Association show that this year's corn demand is expected to be 225 million tons, while last year's national corn output was 215 million tons, a difference of 10 million tons, and this does not even take into account this year's corn production decline, while last year's expected corn demand was 210 million tons. From this we can see that this year's corn demand is very large. Naturally, corn prices cannot fall.

In addition, wheat prices are rising, and the second half of the year is the peak season for the livestock industry, so feed demand is increasing, but the price of wheat bran used as feed continues to rise, so livestock enterprises will inevitably consider corn as a substitute product, and this is also a major factor influencing the rise in corn prices.

There is also the impact of this year's international trade issues: imported corn volumes have declined, so domestic corn prices will naturally rise correspondingly.

However, coming back to the point, as one of China's three major grains, corn will not experience large-scale price fluctuations, and this year's corn prices can only be described as rising steadily. According to the latest news, on July 5 and 6 the temporary grain reserve will conduct a new round of corn auctions, with an auction volume of 8 million tons. Seen this way, with the existence of the temporary grain reserve, corn prices will not rise by a large margin. They can only rise steadily. It is still somewhat difficult for corn prices to break through the 1 yuan threshold on a large scale.
