Black Guinea Pig Farming Methods

There are many different ways to farm black guinea pigs, with three main methods: cage rearing, flat pool-style pen rearing, and three-dimensional large-scale factory farming.

Cage Rearing

This rearing method can be used for small-scale keeping. Its advantages are that it allows control of breeding and feeding, and keeps things clean and hygienic. The cages can be made of wooden strips, bamboo slats, or wire, with dimensions of 60 cm × 50 cm × 40 cm being suitable.

Flat Pool-Style Pen Rearing

This is suitable when single-story houses with wide rooms are available. The room is partitioned with bricks, wooden boards, etc. into pools of 0.5-1 sq m in area, and it is best to spread some wood shavings or dry straw inside the pools, which helps with warmth retention and moisture absorption. At present, this method is mostly used for rearing.

Three-Dimensional Factory-Style Rearing

Its scale is relatively large and relatively concentrated, making it easy to manage and operate, and a large number can be reared. Bricks, wood, or iron bars are used to build 3-5 tiers, with the bottom slightly slanted so that droppings flow out, making management convenient. There are small doors in the pools and cages.

The three methods above are common black guinea pig farming methods. Farmers should adapt to local conditions when making their choice; the one that suits them best is the best choice.
