Since the 2011 International Year of Forests, Cathay Life Insurance and the Cathay Charity Foundation, whose corporate logo is a large green tree, have launched tree-planting activities across Taiwan. Over more than three years, they have planted nearly 30,000 saplings across Taiwan. This year's 13th tree-planting event was held on June 7 at Taipei City's Youth Park, where nearly 200 volunteers, policyholders, family members and community residents planted thousands of small trees with their bare hands, hoping to make Youth Park another forest park.

The Cathay Charity Foundation has long focused on environmental greening issues. Starting in 2012, it began cooperating with Youth Park, donating and planting about 5,000 saplings, which won high praise from the government and local community. On 6/7, it once again held the "Fragrant Flowers Encircling Again" sapling donation and planting event, donating 4,000 saplings and calling on nearly 200 volunteers, policyholders, family members and community residents to plant story trees together, deeply rooting the concept of sustainable Taiwan.

Gong Zhirong, Director-General of the Cathay Charity Foundation, said that to carry out the spirit of the large tree and practice the belief in sustainable development, the tree-planting activity at Youth Park is planned as a three-year phased project, with the aim of creating a colorful green landscape around the lotus pond in Youth Park within three years. "Not only that, through the personal participation of community residents and Lin Yuan volunteers, the value and spirit of planting trees to protect the Earth are deeply rooted in the local community, coalescing into a green momentum that leads the public to jointly value Taiwan's original green appearance."

In addition, the Cathay Charity Foundation's tree-planting activities further cooperate with the community through an "adoption" approach to ensure the "survival rate" of the trees. Each tree is like planting a seed of happiness, and Cathay hopes to let the seeds of happiness spread to every corner of society. As a leader in the financial and insurance industry, the mission to defend the environment brooks no delay. It is hoped that through tree-planting activities across Taiwan, the passion of enterprises, policyholders and every community resident for the land can be ignited, allowing Taiwan's land to be sustainably passed down and continued.
