How Can Bamboo Rat Breeding Beginners Tell If a Bamboo Rat Is Pregnant?

How Beginners Can Identify Whether a Bamboo Rat Is Pregnant
Many beginners ask how to tell whether a bamboo rat is pregnant. This question is too troublesome to explain in words, but we can identify it from the following aspects.
1. Check 5 to 7 days after the male and female rats are put together in the same pen for mating. If the hair around the female rat's nipples turns outward, and the nipples become exposed and enlarged, with a darker color, often pink, she may be pregnant. This phenomenon is similar to the female rat being in heat, and it is very hard for beginners to distinguish.
2. Calculate based on the time the male and female have been kept together. If after one month the female rat eats more than usual, the sides of her abdomen widen by the width of one finger, and she sleeps as soon as she is full, you can judge that the female rat is already pregnant.
3. Lift the female rat up upside down. If the abdominal grooves on the inner side of her hind legs are full and swollen, she is pregnant.
4. For a female rat that has raised young before, there will be a layer of greasy skin on her nipples. After she becomes pregnant, this greasy skin will fall off, which means she is pregnant.
