Cycling around Changhua: elementary school children fulfill their graduation dream

(Taiwan Business News) At Dingzhuang Elementary School in Dacheng Township, Changhua County, 28 people - 6 boys and 14 girls plus leading principal Hong Xinde and faculty members - formed a unicycle team. On the 10th they set off from the school on bicycles, planning to spend 2 days riding 120 km to complete their dream journey around Changhua County.
On the 11th, these young unicycle riders arrived at the Changhua County Government for a visit and performed their specialty freestyle unicycling and freestyle football. Deputy Magistrate Ke Chengfang, on behalf of Magistrate Zhuo Boyuan, presented graduation certificates and commemorative gifts in the courtyard, expressing encouragement and welcome to these children who bravely take on challenges and actively pursue their dreams.
Before the cycling-around-Changhua activity, homeroom teacher Xu Jiafu and the children agreed together on three challenge stages: the first stage was reciting ten Tang poems, the second stage was reciting English texts, and the third stage was passing a 5-kilometer road running test. In order to obtain certification, the children worked together, helped and cooperated with one another, encouraged and inspired one another, and wished one another success in passing the test.
The route for this exchange was discussed and decided by the young riders themselves, with the teachers only providing assistance on the side. On the first day, the route around Changhua started from Dingzhuang Elementary School in Dacheng Township, passed through Erlin Elementary School, Hexing Elementary School, Fude Elementary School, and Cunshang Elementary School, and then arrived at the Changhua County Council. On the second day, it started from the Council to the Changhua County Government, passing through Xiaoyang Road, Zhonghua West Road, Zhanglu Road, Lukang Longshan Temple, Caiyuan Road, Yanhai Road, Provincial Highway 17, Wanggong Fuhai Temple, and Xigang Bridge before returning to Dingzhuang Elementary School, about 120 km in total.
During the exchange around Changhua, the children were able to leave Dacheng, gain a deeper understanding of their hometown, and experience group life, thereby cultivating their personal perseverance, independence, self-control, and team spirit, and getting to know and experience the beauty of Changhua even more.
