Chen Yongfa Takes Over and Is Sworn In as Chiayi County Councilor

(Taiwan Business News) Former Chiayi County Council Speaker Yu Zhengda was sentenced to 10 years and 4 months in prison under the Anti-Corruption Act, a sentence that has been finalized, and lost his qualifications as speaker and councilor. The councilor seat is taken over by Chen Yongfa of Liujiao Township. On the morning of the 11th, the Chiayi County Council held a swearing-in ceremony at the council for Chen Yongfa as a replacement councilor. Acting Speaker Zhang Mingda presided, and Feng Baolang, chief judge of the Chiayi District Court, supervised the handover. Several county councilors and Huang Yaoren, chairman of the Kuomintang Chiayi County Party Committee, led several party workers to attend and offer congratulations.
Before learning that he would take over the seat, Councilor Chen Yongfa said he felt no joy, only sorrow, and stressed that he would seize the short six months, redouble his efforts, and work hard to serve his constituents. He said he must make sure his fellow townspeople feel the difference, so as not to betray heaven's kindness.
