Groundbreaking for Linyuan No. 11 Park in Kaohsiung, set to become the "lungs of Linyuan"
Kaohsiung creates the lungs of Linyuan, groundbreaking held for Linyuan No. 11 Park

(Taiwan Business News) Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu went to the planned site of No. 11 Park in Linyuan District to preside over the groundbreaking ceremony. In addition to thanking the city's legislators, the city council and local figures for their support and assistance, she said they would work together to create No. 11 Park, comparable to the "lungs of Linyuan," providing local residents with a safe and comfortable space for rest and recreation.
Kaohsiung Linyuan No. 11 Park is located in the core area of Linyuan District, with convenient transportation, covering an area of 3.06 hectares. After completion at the end of the year, it is expected to complement the Happiness Park across the street and provide local residents with a more complete leisure area.
Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu said that the old site of No. 11 Park was occupied by old facilities such as an abandoned swimming pool, sports courts and a columbarium, which nearby residents avoided. In recent years, the city government has actively planned new construction projects, properly arranging all the work, and through communication between grassroots district and borough chiefs and local residents, the ancestral ashes urns were relocated and the relevant land was acquired. She hoped to provide residents with the highest-quality public recreation space in the shortest possible time.
Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu stated that after the merger of the county and city, the city government has vigorously promoted greening and beautification work in all districts to create a happy and livable space for residents. Nearly 2.8 billion yuan has been invested in public works construction in the Linyuan area, greatly improving the living quality of the people in Linyuan. The city government will also continue to build up Linyuan District to make up for its contribution to Taiwan's economic development.
The Kaohsiung City Public Works Bureau pointed out that the total funding for the development of No. 11 Park is about NT$220 million (including about NT$180 million for land acquisition and about NT$40 million for construction). The original site was densely packed with illegal structures, most of which were impermeable paving. Taking advantage of this park development, it is planned to plant 309 trees and a large area of green space for air filtration. It is expected to absorb about 3,200 tons of carbon dioxide. In addition to establishing a forest park in the Linyuan area and creating a green homeland, it will also transform the image of the industrial zone and create the image of the "lungs of Linyuan."
