Home gardening is gradually becoming a trend, so why do we grow flowers? Have flower lovers ever thought about this question? Many flower lovers are full of passion at the beginning, and when they see others growing plants well, they want to achieve the same, but many end in failure. Actually, I think growing flowers is about cultivating the mind and character. Every day at work and in life, there are bound to be disappointments. At times like this, growing some flowers and plants, and tending to them after work, is a very good way to relax and adjust.

It is jasmine season now, and I have received many messages from jasmine lovers: Why won't my jasmine bloom? How should jasmine soil be mixed? How should it be watered? The questions differ one by one. Today I will share with everyone what points to note when mixing soil for potted jasmine.

Potted jasmine and field-grown jasmine are two different concepts. The most important thing for potted jasmine is to absorb nutrients from the soil mix, so the preparation of potting soil is very crucial for home potted plants.

For potted jasmine, the growing medium is required to be rich in organic matter, have a certain ability to retain water and fertilizer, and also have water permeability and air permeability. To retain water and fertilizer while also being permeable to water and air and rich in organic matter, a single growing material cannot meet the requirements, so potted soil mixing must be made by combining several growing materials. So, I generally use garden soil and humus soil combined with a certain amount of granular growing material and plant it in a clay pot.

1. Garden soil

For garden soil, I use the surface mature soil from a vegetable plot. After collecting it, I heat it with fire to kill bacteria and weed seeds in the soil. At the same time, after heating, the garden soil improves its aggregate structure. Flower lovers with experience should understand this point. I always get garden soil from the neighborhood, haha.

2. Humus soil

Humus soil is rich in organic matter. My humus soil is homemade. The method is: use a bucket, first spread a layer of garden soil at the bottom (I generally use the old soil removed when repotting), then spread a layer of kitchen waste (vegetable leaves, melon rinds, fruit peels, etc.). In this way, one layer of soil, one layer of kitchen waste, use the "sandwich" method to fill a bucket, and after composting for about a year it becomes excellent humus soil. Before use, just expose it to the sun to sterilize it. After jasmine takes it, the flowers it blooms are especially fragrant. Flower lovers who are too lazy to make it themselves can also buy humus soil online, which is very convenient.

3. Granular soil

For granular soil, I generally like to use crushed honeycomb coal briquette residue. After the honeycomb coal briquette is burned, crush it, then sieve out the powder and keep the granules. After soaking in water, it can be used.

Then mix garden soil, humus soil, and granular soil in a ratio of 5:2:3. In this way, the basic nutrients for jasmine can basically be satisfied. For later care as the jasmine grows, use Huadongde acid-loving organic nutrient solution for topdressing. It is rich in organic acids, can effectively improve soil acidity, prevent yellow leaves, and promote flowering.
