Building an Indigenous Cultural and Creative Settlement: Taitung County Goes North to Attract Investment

(Taiwan Business News) The Taitung County Government held an investment promotion briefing for the "Taitung County Indigenous Cultural and Creative Industry Settlement" at URS21, the Zhongshan Creative Base in Taipei City, attracting more than 20 business representatives, including Taiwan Cultural and Creative Development Co., Ltd., which operates Huashan 1914, and Eslite Life, which has long been involved in the cultural and creative industry, all of whom expressed strong interest in the Taitung County cultural and creative settlement project.

In order to improve the living conditions and environment of indigenous communities, develop the cultural and creative industry, revitalize local commercial districts, and cultivate talent in indigenous living crafts and artistic creation, the Taitung County Government successfully secured support from the Council of Indigenous Peoples and planned to establish the "Taitung County Indigenous Cultural and Creative Industry Settlement" around the old railway station and the old Taiwan Motor Transport maintenance depot. The detailed design and planning as well as the project contracting for this case have now been completed, with construction set to begin in June of this year and official operation expected in the 105th year of the Republic of China.

Taitung County Magistrate Huang Chien-ting said that Taitung has been developing vigorously in recent years, with tourist numbers repeatedly hitting new highs. In addition to actively improving the quality of tourism services, the county government is also building free Wi-Fi throughout the county, among other efforts. In addition, the Puyuma Express will begin service at the end of June, which is believed to help provide a favorable investment environment and attract quality enterprises to set up operations in Taitung.

The Taitung County Indigenous Cultural and Creative Settlement project has two base areas. The product exhibition and sales area is close to the old Taiwan Railway station in Taitung, located in the old Taiwan Railway dormitory area and the site behind Dingtung Bus, and is the focus of this investment promotion. In the future, it will present a brand-new architectural appearance symbolizing Taitung's mountain and sea characteristics, exhibiting and selling cultural and creative products from various indigenous workshops in Taitung, as well as tribal agricultural specialty products and souvenir gifts.
