Orchid care, from watering to fertilizing, has never been an easy task. But when growing orchids, if you do not learn how to fertilize, the flowers cannot reach a high grade, let alone bloom so heavily that they bend the branches. However, many flower lovers always run into fertilizer burn when fertilizing orchids. In fact, this action of fertilizing requires 9 points of attention.

1. When applying foliar fertilizer, flower lovers must avoid dripping the fertilizer solution into the heart leaves of the orchid plant. Once it drips in, rinse it clean with clear water, otherwise the heart is very likely to rot.

2. When placing compound fertilizer granules or peanut bran powder at the edge of the pot as a fertilizer placement, use 3-5 grams each time. It should not be placed in too large an amount, nor should it be placed near the orchid head or orchid buds.

3. When applying homemade organic fertilizer, use a spray bottle to slowly pour the liquid fertilizer in from the rim of the pot (do not let the fertilizer liquid adhere to the leaves), then water the leaf surfaces once more to prevent leaf surface diseases.

4. If you use an organic liquid fertilizer specially made for orchids to topdress the orchid roots, just dilute it 500 times, once every half month; the substrate in the pot should not be too moist, otherwise it is not easily absorbed by the root system. If spraying on the leaf surfaces, it can be diluted 1000 times, choose weather with high air humidity, and try to spray it on the underside of the leaves so that it enters the leaves through the stomata and improves the fertilizer efficiency.

5. Before fertilizing, adjust the pH value of the fertilizer solution to 5.0-6.0.

6. Some flower lovers, because they do not grow many orchids, or because they do not have a sprayer, or to save some time, dissolve the fertilizer in water and apply it in the manner of watering. The advantage of this fertilizing method is that both the leaves and the root system can absorb nutrients, and it is both simple and time-saving.

7. If the substrate in the orchid pot has strong water permeability and poor fertilizer retention, then during the growing season you can add a trace amount of fertilizer to the water used for routine spraying with a sprayer.

8. Never apply concentrated fertilizer, to prevent fertilizer damage to the orchids.

9. Fertilizing methods should be flexible, for example: alternating use of organic fertilizer and inorganic fertilizer; organic fertilizer poured at the roots, inorganic fertilizer sprayed on the leaves; potassium dihydrogen phosphate and organic fertilizer mixed and sprayed; long-acting granular fertilizer placed on the pot surface and foliar fertilizing used in combination at the same time, and so on.
