As a plant grown mainly for its foliage, the key to caring for pothos is getting its leaves to grow glossy and large. In fact, if you pay attention to care techniques and methods, achieving large leaves on pothos is not difficult. However, if you want pothos leaves to be glossy green, you really do need to feed it 3 kinds of "oil."

1. A small amount of cooking oil plus monopotassium phosphate

If you want pothos leaves to be glossy green, during normal care you can choose the evening and use a small amount of cooking oil (1 ml diluted in 1000 times water), then add 0.2% monopotassium phosphate to the 1000 times water with cooking oil, and spray the leaf surface once a week. After spraying, place it in a cool, ventilated spot for care, and the pothos can absorb it very well, with leaves looking as if they have been wiped with oil.

If gardening friends find this troublesome, you can use an organic nutrient solution specially made for pothos, diluted 500 times for watering the roots and 1000 times for spraying the leaves, once a week. Then during the vigorous growth period of pothos, combine spraying 0.2% monopotassium phosphate, alternating with the organic nutrient solution, and the pothos can also grow with green, large leaves.

2. A small amount of cooking oil plus gibberellin

Gardening friends can also use 1 ml of cooking oil, then dissolve 1 ml of 920 gibberellin in it, shake thoroughly into an emulsified oil form, then add water, pour into a spray bottle, shake again, and spray. This mixed solution can be used once every half month, mainly for watering the roots, and can effectively promote absorption by the pothos, making the leaves grow large and glossy.

3. Aquarium water plus a little EM microbial solution

Gardening friends, if you keep fish at home, when changing the water for the fish, save the water, let it settle for about 2 days, then add a little EM microbial solution to the water, and it can be used directly to water the roots of the pothos. If spraying the leaf surface, you can add water to dilute it to about 10 times, generally once a week, for the best effect.

Gardening friends must be wondering why using these 3 kinds of "oil" can make pothos grow glossy, large leaves, right? First, cooking oil contains many organic components, and combined with monopotassium phosphate, its main role is to promote leaf growth in pothos and make the branches sturdier; as for cooking oil plus gibberellin, gibberellin has the ability to decompose organic matter, and can accelerate the decomposition of the organic matter in cooking oil for the pothos to absorb; and then there is aquarium water plus EM microbial solution. Aquarium water itself is already rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, and EM microbial solution contains beneficial bacteria, which can better promote absorption and growth in pothos.
