How to propagate torch ginger? Learn the common propagation methods

Division propagation: Cut the rhizomes of torch ginger into several clumps, each with 3-4 buds, replant them and place them in a shady growing environment. Tissue culture: First wash the underground stems of the mother plant clean, soak them in carbendazim to force sprouting, and when the buds grow to 2 cm, use the growing point inside as the explant for culture.
1. Division propagation
To carry out division, first increase fertilizer and water to make the torch ginger grow more robust and encourage it to sprout more and produce strong buds. Division is best done from April to October.
When dividing, first dig out the rhizomes and use a sharp knife to cut them into several clumps, each with 3-4 buds. After replanting, place them in a shady growing environment, and they will take root in about 1 month. It is best to divide once a year, which allows the plant to take shape better and accumulate nutrients for flowering.
2. Tissue culture
This method is more suitable for large-scale planting. Its explants can use newly sprouted tender buds, but decontamination is relatively difficult. First rinse the underground stems of the mother plant clean, soak them in a carbendazim solution for one day, then put them in a plastic bag to force sprouting, with the temperature best kept at around 25°C. When the buds grow to 2 cm, use the growing point inside as the explant, which has relatively lower contamination.
