The 2014 Hualien Flight Season has made a splashy debut at the Environmental Protection Science and Technology Park in Fenglin Township. Since July 19, it has drawn many local residents bringing their families and young children every day to experience the charm of hot air balloons rising and the parent-child water play area. The 2014 Hualien Flight Season will close on August 31. Hualien County Magistrate Fu Kun-chi has made multiple trips with county government bureau and department heads to inspect the site in person, and stressed that everything must be done to perfection so that all visitors can enjoy a happy summer here.
The Environmental Protection Science and Technology Park is located within the Fenglin Comprehensive Development Zone. The park is 42 km from the airport and 39 km from Hualien Railway Station. The park connects externally to Provincial Highway 9, linking north to Hualien and Yilan and south to Taitung, making outside transportation very convenient. This year's Hualien Flight Season park covers a vast area; the lawn alone used for hot air balloons rising and descending in place measures 4 hectares. The organizers thoughtfully introduced a park carriage driven by professional coaches, letting visitors sit aboard and enjoy the scenery while feeling the breeze on their cheeks.
To further promote the 2014 Hualien Flight Season among Hualien residents, on the one-week anniversary of the opening, various social groups from Hualien County as well as elementary and middle school children were specially invited into the park, hoping more people would come to know the charm of the Flight Season. Through the dedicated planning of the county government's relevant bureaus and departments, the Hualien Environmental Protection Science and Technology Park has not only fully revitalized a long-dormant white elephant facility, but also closely integrated with local industries, attracting friends from all over the country to come to Hualien and enjoy the happiest warm family time of the summer vacation.
This year's Hualien Flight Season, in addition to its original activities, also features 18 themed pavilions stationed in the Fenglin Environmental Protection Science and Technology Park, including the Showtime Cinema Pavilion, Zhaofeng Farm Pavilion, and Chateau de Chine Hotel Pavilion. In the scorching summer, they let adults and children enjoy free first-run movie screenings and showcase Hualien's rich local products and distinctive culture. It is hoped that the 2014 Hualien Flight Season's three-dimensional travel experience can bring business opportunities and tourism output value to Hualien.
Taiwan's largest water park, 18 themed pavilions, and hot air balloon, ultralight aircraft and paraglider sites are all in Hualien. Such a distinctive multi-in-one sightseeing and recreation park will accompany all children through a joyful summer vacation.
