July is here, and this is the hottest time of the year. Outside, the heat is rising in waves, and indoors it is not much better. For the roses at home, sunlight must be plentiful, but when the temperature is too high, the pot gets scorching hot, so what should be done? Well, gardening friends are like the Eight Immortals crossing the sea, each showing their own special powers. Let's see what they all do?

1. Method One: Film Wrapping to Cool Down

This is one rose owner's way of cooling down for the summer: applying "film" to the rose pots on the rooftop. Once summer arrives, the walls of the rose pots get so hot they burn your hand. The outer layer is a sun-protection film used for flower pots in summer. This gardening friend was very careful and took quite a while to cover all the roses on the balcony one by one. This is one of the good ways to cool things down, but it is rather troublesome.

Some rose owners say this method is practical, yes, but rather troublesome, so another method can be used: double potting. Prepare another flower pot two sizes larger, stuff some stones and waste newspaper inside, then place this rose pot into it. This can effectively prevent the pot walls from getting too hot, which would otherwise cause the rose roots to be "killed by heat."

2. Method Two: Shade Net for Shading

As shown in the picture below, prepare a shade net for the roses. This is one of the must-do things in summer. It can help the roses avoid the blazing midday sun, lower the temperature, and keep the pot walls from getting too hot. If you use the film-wrapping method above together with the shade net below, you basically do not have to worry about the roses dying from heat. However, many people do not understand how to use a shade net!

When using a shade net, many rose owners make this mistake: the shade net is too close to the rose pot. You can try putting your hand near the shade net. The area near the shade net is the hottest place, so it must be kept at a certain distance from your roses. A distance of more than 50 cm between the shade net and the roses is relatively safe.

When caring for roses, it is best to water them with an organic nutrient solution that strengthens the roots. When the rose roots are strong, the chance of successfully getting through summer is higher. For our potted roses, the two methods above have a very good cooling effect. Without cooling in summer, roses wither and die. This is a problem that every rose owner must keep in mind.
