Opening Up the Eastern European Market, Textile Industry Enjoys One Surprise After Another

(Taiwan Commercial News) The Taiwan Textile Federation led six textile companies on their first trip to Eastern European countries such as the Czech Republic and Hungary to attend textile exhibitions, where they received a warm welcome from the local textile industry. The Taiwan Textile Federation found that demand for outdoor sports goods, home textiles and industrial textiles there is considerable and worth further development.

In order to develop business opportunities in emerging markets and achieve market diversification, the Taiwan Textile Federation organized a joint promotion and marketing mission to emerging markets in Central and Eastern Europe from August 24 to 29, leading six textile companies to attend the STYL exhibition in Brno, Czech Republic, and extending to Budapest, Hungary, where one-on-one business meetings were held at Asia Center.

This was the Taiwan Textile Federation's first mission to the Czech Republic and Hungary for sales promotion in recent years. It received strong assistance from the Representative Office of the Republic of China in the local area, and attracted the attention of local textile-related organizations and a warm welcome from buyers.

Organizations including the Czech Textile, Clothing and Leather Association (ATOK), the Czech Association of Technical Textiles (CLUTEX), the Hungarian Textile Technology and Science Association (TMTE), and the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BKJK) all expressed their willingness to cooperate with the Taiwan Textile Federation and proactively raised their demand for Taiwanese textile raw materials.

The Taiwan Textile Federation pointed out that this promotion mission successfully established relationships with the local industry and also uncovered demand in the Central and Eastern European market for outdoor sports, home and industrial textiles, and estimated that it would bring at least about USD 1.5 million in business opportunities over the coming year.

At the STYL exhibition in the Czech Republic, the Taiwan Textile Federation set up a Taiwan Textiles Image Zone. To enhance the promotion effectiveness of the Taiwan delegation, multiple advertisements were placed inside and outside the exhibition hall, greatly increasing the exposure of the Taiwan Pavilion. In the first two days of the exhibition, buyer interaction and networking activities were also arranged to proactively market the features of Taiwanese textile products, effectively attracting buyers to visit and hold discussions.

As for the business meeting in Hungary, the Taiwan Textile Federation provided product information from the Taiwanese participating companies in advance and completed matching beforehand through local Hungarian institutions and associations, arranging nearly 60 one-on-one business meetings in total. The actual attendance rate was nearly 90%, and some buyers placed orders on site or clearly expressed their willingness to cooperate.

The Taiwan Textile Federation emphasized that, due to geopolitical factors, Hungary can connect to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, as well as Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and other countries in the southern Balkans, making it a very ideal location for sales promotion. Buyers in the Central and Eastern European region care a great deal about quality and have a very good impression of Taiwanese products. Although the process of establishing business relationships between the two sides is slow, once a relationship is established, it will be very lasting and stable.
