ITRI's Mobile Smart Technologies Debut at Taipei International Invention Show and Technomart
Taipei International Invention Show and Technomart: ITRI Exhibits Mobile Smart Technologies

(CNA News) At the 2014 Taipei International Invention Show and Technomart, ITRI exhibited 25 inventions under the theme "Mobile Smart Living." ITRI stated that these forward-looking technologies can be applied to IoT health management, vehicle telematics, and solving the problem of mobile phone GPS being unable to locate indoors.
ITRI stated that the "ITRI Innovation and Foresight Pavilion" at the invention show displayed 25 technological achievements related to wearable devices, health management, indoor positioning, and vehicle telematics, including the "Wearable Microsecond-Pulse Near-Field Non-Contact Sensing Wristband," the "Continuous Blood Oxygen Monitoring Wristband," the "Smart Health Chair," the "Indoor Positioning System," and the "Visible Light Communication and Positioning System."
The 2014 Taipei International Invention Show and Technomart also exhibited the LED Online Real-Time Thermal Analyzer, which won this year's Global Top 100 Technology Award, as well as personalized 3D printing scanning, materials, equipment, and high-definition computational light field camera module technologies, outlining the shape of future mobile smart living.
According to an IEK survey by ITRI, ABI Research predicts that shipments of wearable devices for mobile health (mHealth) will reach 160 million units by 2017. The home-use "Health Wearable Physiological Detection Device" can provide pre-hospital preliminary screening and recommended health consultation, creating new business opportunities. When this potential demand grows significantly, wearable physiological detection devices will have entered the IoT era.
In addition, the medical-grade "Continuous Blood Oxygen Monitoring Wristband" has the highest accuracy among published products worldwide. ITRI stated that it uses optical methods to calculate blood oxygen concentration and can provide continuous monitoring of blood oxygen and pulse during daily activities. The detection accuracy for pulses per minute (bpm) is greater than 95%, and the measurement accuracy for blood oxygen saturation concentration is plus or minus 3% within the 70% to 100% range.
The "Smart Health Chair" targets the living habit of elderly people sitting in chairs for long periods. Through electromechanical integration, it automatically measures weight, heartbeat, blood oxygen, and blood pressure trends, calculates BMI values, and works with a pedometer to record the daily required amount of exercise. The data can be displayed on an Android phone or tablet and can be directly uploaded to the cloud for health management.
ITRI's "LED Visible Light Communication Technology" uses LED light bands to transmit data, allowing LEDs not only to provide lighting but also to avoid electromagnetic interference from wireless communication. It combines the features of energy-saving lighting and smart communication and can be applied in low-electromagnetic environments such as confidential meeting rooms, hospitals, airports, and underwater communications.
Currently, ITRI has developed, according to different needs, the "LED Visible Light Communication System," which can be directly integrated with lighting manufacturers and features indoor positioning functions, as well as the "Visible Light Communication Platform," a communication module solution valued by upstream manufacturers, bringing innovative experiences to industry and the public. 20140918
