How to Choose Napa Cabbage? Master These Selection Tips

Napa cabbage was called "song" in ancient times and has the title of “king of vegetables.” It is rich in crude fiber, vitamins and other nutrients, and also has a very high water content, giving it excellent hydrating, skin-nourishing and beauty-enhancing benefits. When choosing napa cabbage, you can start with the following aspects:
Look at the appearance
High-quality napa cabbage requires fresh, tender green leaves, pure white stalks, and a fairly tight, firm head with no pests or diseases.
Look at black spots
When choosing, try to look at some of the inner leaves to see whether there are black spots. If there are, it is not suitable to buy.
Time on the market
According to the time they reach the market, napa cabbages fall into three types: early-maturing, mid-maturing and late-maturing. By the color of the leaf head, they are divided into white-head, green-head and green-white-head types. Generally speaking:
1. Cabbage on the market from September to October belongs to the early-maturing variety, a white-head cabbage with less crude fiber and a milder taste, so it is best to buy it and eat it as you go.
2. The mid-maturing variety is a green-white-head cabbage, with quality between the early-maturing and late-maturing varieties.
3. Cabbage on the market in November belongs to the late-maturing variety, a green-head cabbage. Eaten early, the texture is rather coarse, but after storage, the taste will improve.
