What types of agricultural sightseeing parks are there?

Agricultural sightseeing parks are a new approach to modern agricultural development and represent an institutional innovation in agricultural production. So far, there is no unified standard for classifying agricultural sightseeing parks; most places classify and name them based on their own main projects and local characteristics. Here, according to their application characteristics, agricultural sightseeing parks are divided into three types: sightseeing farms, agricultural parks and educational farms.

Sightseeing farms

Sightseeing farms take the production of crops, horticultural crops, flowers, tea, etc. as their main projects, allow visitors to take part in activities such as production, management and harvesting, and offer viewing, tasting and purchasing; such parks are sightseeing agricultural parks.

Sightseeing farms can be further subdivided into sightseeing orchards, sightseeing vegetable gardens, sightseeing flower gardens (nurseries), sightseeing tea gardens, etc., such as the Chaolai Agronomic Park in Beijing and the Shijin Flowers and Trees Company in Puyang City, Henan Province.

Agricultural parks

Parks that combine production, sales of agricultural products, tourism, leisure and entertainment, and landscaping are called agricultural parks. Such parks are relatively complete in terms of leisure, tourism, vacation, accommodation and dining, shopping (agricultural products), conferences and entertainment facilities, and they pay attention to the development of cultural and historical resources.

Agricultural parks are comprehensive agricultural sightseeing parks, such as the tourism-oriented landscape agricultural area in Yichang, Hubei, Jiuzhaigou in Sichuan, the agricultural modernization demonstration area in Yiwu, Zhejiang, and the Zhongyuan Green Manor in Puyang City, Henan Province.

Educational farms

Parks that take into account agricultural production and agricultural science education while also incorporating landscaping and tourism can be called educational farms. The plant categories, advanced nature, representativeness, morphological characteristics and modeling features in such parks can not only provide visitors with scientific and technological, science-popularization knowledge education, but also demonstrate in real terms that science and technology are productive forces.

Educational farms can achieve certain economic benefits while also cultivating people's temperament and enriching their spare-time cultural life, thereby achieving the goal of entertaining body and mind, such as the World Agricultural Expo Park in Shenzhen, the modern agriculture development zone in Sunqiao, Shanghai, and the characteristic plant exhibition park in Chenzhai Village, Zhengzhou City, Henan Province.
