How much does a Tosa Inu cost?

The Tosa Inu is a very mysterious large-scale fighting dog from Japan, hailed as the most ferocious canine in the world and the king of Eastern fighting dogs. It is extremely savage toward its own kind, yet fiercely loyal to its owner. Its price is very high, but an excellent Tosa cannot be obtained with money alone. Let's take a look below at how much a Tosa Inu costs!

How much does a Tosa Inu cost?

The market price of the Tosa Inu is usually not cheap; among fighting dog breeds it surely ranks in the top three, and it is quite rare in China, let alone a purebred Japanese Tosa. The Tosa Inu is divided into four fighting grades: Shokaku, Kankyo, Daiko and Yokozuna. The higher the grade, the more expensive the price. At present there are people in China breeding Tosas; the cheap ones cost a bit over 3000 yuan each, and the expensive ones over 5000 yuan each, but I can't say much about the quality, since it is not a native breed.

Living habits of the Tosa Inu

1. As a fighting dog, the Tosa Inu attacks other dogs very fiercely and cannot coexist with other dog breeds. Of course, a male Tosa cannot coexist with another male Tosa either (even raising them together from a young age won't work).

2. As the quietest dog breed, the Tosa Inu is beyond dispute; they hardly ever bark, yet they have reliable guarding ability.

3. The Tosa Inu is a sensitive breed, and correct methods must be used when training it. If you speak to it harshly and loudly, or even hit them when they make mistakes, they generally will not forget what you did to them, and this will gradually lead to them ignoring and despising you. Because they are so sensitive and highly intelligent, they learn how to treat their owner from how you treat them.

Training methods for the Tosa Inu

1. Do not praise the Tosa Inu too much when training. Unlike educating a baby, praise for the Tosa Inu should be limited to when it is very obedient. If you praise it at every turn, it will become confused, not knowing when it can earn praise, which will increase the difficulty of later training.

2. Training the Tosa Inu requires patience. The Tosa Inu is not an animal that will remember and comply immediately after being taught only once or twice. It needs to gradually form memories through constant training. Therefore, the keeper is required to be patient and train it continuously.

3. The Tosa Inu must be trained to adapt. Toward things it dislikes, the Tosa Inu often avoids them, barks at them, or simply destroys them. This can sometimes cause the owner a lot of trouble. In this situation, you must first be patient and never rush; let the Tosa Inu slowly approach the thing it dislikes, and at the same time keep speaking to it in a gentle voice to calm it down.

4. Correct the Tosa Inu in time. At the moment the Tosa Inu is about to do something "that must not be done," you should loudly and decisively stop it. If you scold it afterward, the Tosa Inu will not understand the reason, and will still continue to do those “must not be done” things. What is worse, being scolded frequently without knowing the reason will gradually make it distrust its owner and stop obeying the owner's commands.

Feeding precautions for the Tosa Inu

1. Be able to spend at least 3 hours with the dog every day. The home must have enough space for the Tosa to move around, walk and run.

2. Do not keep it tethered in a kennel alone; the Tosa needs to be with its owner.

3. Have extensive knowledge of dogs.

4. Usually pay attention to getting along well with the neighbors; the Tosa sometimes barks at strange things and sounds. Reinforce the walls or fences of your yard, because your Tosa does not like the neighbors' dogs.

5. Take the Tosa with you on vacation, or entrust them to good people for a period of time.

6. You must be able to wait patiently and patiently socialize your Tosa, because they are a breed that develops very slowly.
