On New Year's Day of the 104th year of the Republic of China (2015), the Taiwan Design Museum grandly launched a brand-new exhibition, the "45° Angle FUN Design Special Exhibition," on display at the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei, China. This exhibition brings together winning works from the 2014 Taiwan Young Pin Design Award, the Taiwan International Creative Design Competition, the German iF, and Red Dot, with exhibits ranging from everyday household items, furniture, and exquisite accessories to cultural and creative merchandise. Everyone is welcome to come see emerging designers speak out boldly about their new design ideas for life, for society, and even for all humanity, boldly playing with design through creativity!
What is most valuable about emerging designers is that they are idea generators whose imaginations run wild and who are unbound by reality. Through keen observation of life, they uncover unexpected creativity, return to the original value of design, and present novel concepts and pure dedication, putting into practice beautiful imaginings and ideas about life.
The work "Folding Paper Speaker" in the "45° Angle FUN Design Special Exhibition" overturns the public's impression of 3C peripheral products as cold and impersonal through the art of paper folding, and by means of the folded-paper form makes the product easy to fold and store. The one-piece speaker body also achieves an unexpectedly excellent sound amplification effect, making it not only convenient for users to carry when going out but also easy to use indoors.
The work "Danqing" (which won the German Red Dot Concept Design Award - Best of the Best) continues Taiwan's traditional plant dyeing craft and conveys the value of natural dyeing and its environmentally friendly concept. Through illustration design featuring eleven of the most representative plants used in Taiwan plant dyeing, and using a Lilliputian worldview to depict the connection between plants and life, illustrations are then used to narrate the uses of various plants. In addition, the characteristics of paper are used to unfold this work's unique color swatch book into the shape of a flower, and the colors of these plants all come from natural hues. In addition, "Pendoll" (which won the German iF Concept Design Award) fuses the two opposing concepts of consumption and creation, combining the pencil sharpener and stuffed doll that are essential to children's growth process. The wood shavings from colored pencils are retained to become the doll's stuffing, turning the act of sharpening a pencil into the process of creating a stuffed doll, educating children about the values of cherishing things and caring for the environment, and creating a happy connection in which people, objects, and the environment coexist.
In addition to the "45° Angle FUN Design Special Exhibition," the Taiwan Design Museum also has "Love and Care - Dutch Design for All Ages Exhibition," displaying design works developed by Dutch designers to extend lifespan and promote active aging. It presents contemporary trends as well as various innovative design concepts, advanced products, and services, striving to create a happier future for an aging society through applied technology and empathy.
At the same time, the museum also has the "Golden Pin Design Exhibition," displaying 21 annual Best Design Award-winning products from the Golden Pin Design Award, the most prestigious design award in the global Chinese market, as well as more than one hundred selected winning products, allowing everyone to appreciate outstanding design from home and abroad.
