"Experience accumulates, and the longer you practice, the more valuable you become." Huang Chu-kai, who graduated just over a year ago from the Ministry of Labor Industry-Academia-Training Cooperative Training Program, looks back on his journey. At first, encouraged by his teacher, he joined the Ministry of Labor's industry-academia-training cooperative training, which allowed him to continue specializing in CNC lathe technology while balancing coursework and employment. In his sophomore year, he took first place in the lathe category at the 40th National Skills Competition. He is now a mechanical engineer at the Industrial Technology Research Institute's Machine Tool Technology Center, with a starting salary of 35,000 yuan. By cultivating a professional skill, he has truly carved out a different career path for himself.
To cultivate young people into professional technical talent, the Ministry of Labor combines the resources of vocational training, schools, and enterprises to promote "industry-academia-training cooperative training." Through complete curriculum implementation and experience in academic subjects, practical subjects, and workplace training, it strengthens young people's employability. In the early stage of training, participants attend school education in the evenings or on holidays, and during the day receive professional technical cultivation training and coaching to obtain technician certifications at the branch offices under the Ministry of Labor's Workforce Development Agency. In the middle and later stages, they are arranged to be employed by partner enterprises for workplace training while continuing to complete their school education, allowing participants to balance theoretical and practical learning during training and obtain certifications, skills, a degree, and job opportunities all at once upon graduation.
Since its inception, the Ministry of Labor's "Industry-Academia-Training Cooperative Training Program" has been deeply recognized by industry. In fiscal year 104, it will further expand the scale of training by adjusting the internal training capacity of branch offices and collaborating with model science and technology universities. It is expected to partner with twelve schools, including National Taipei University of Technology and Chin-Yi University of Technology and Technology, and cooperate with enterprises across various industrial fields such as Taichung Machinery, Formosa Heavy Industries, and CSBC Corporation, Taiwan, to offer nineteen specialized classes in areas such as refrigeration and air conditioning and precision machinery. It is expected to recruit and train an additional 785 people, helping more young students build a career stage of unlimited potential for themselves.
