Hsinchu County Sets New Record for Tourist Visits, Accommodation and Dining Sales Rank First Nationwide

According to the "Hsinchu County Tourist and Recreation Area Visitor Statistics Table" from the Transportation and Tourism Department of the Hsinchu County Government, the number of tourists to Hsinchu County was 5,993,823 in year 98 of the Republic of China era, and grew to 8,580,739 by year 103, an increase of 43.16%, setting a new record; meanwhile, the sales revenue and growth rate of profit-seeking enterprises in the accommodation and dining industry in Hsinchu County soared to 112.75%, ranking first nationwide.

According to statistics from the Statistics Department of the Ministry of Finance, the sales revenue of profit-seeking enterprises in the accommodation and dining industry in Hsinchu County grew from 4.759 billion yuan to 10.125 billion yuan between year 98 and year 103, with a growth rate of 112.75% over the past six years (the national average growth rate was 65.49%), ranking first nationwide. This clearly shows that the county government's promotion and marketing of tourism policies in recent years has driven an increase in local output value, with fruitful results.

Tourism is one of the five main development pillars of the Hsinchu County Government's industrial development. Through the long-term efforts and cooperation of the county government team, combining cultural creativity, refined agriculture (rural leisure), and linking tourism hotspots into routes and extending them into a network, a rich tourism and leisure network has been constructed, successfully attracting tourist crowds and driving business opportunities for the accommodation and dining service industry.

The Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics of Hsinchu County stated: The statistics on sales revenue of profit-seeking enterprises are based on the information reported by taxpayers when filing business tax returns, which is entered and established by the regional National Taxation Bureaus and then sent to the Fiscal Information Agency for compilation. The classification of tax industry codes is also determined based on the industry codes registered by the regional National Taxation Bureaus when accepting taxpayers' business registration applications.
