Robot Creativity Competition Integrated into Talent Cultivation Program
Robot Creativity Competition Takes Root in Talent Cultivation Program
To encourage young students to enter the robotics industry, the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs has held the "Robot Creativity Competition" for seven consecutive years since the 97th year of the Republic of China. This year, building on that momentum, it integrated 14 manufacturers, including Delta Electronics, Dajinyin Micro, Advantech Baoyuan, Liming Machinery, Global Transmission, Zhaohefeng Technology, Xindai Technology, Guangming Optoelectronics, Tengsheng Technology, Shangyan Electromechanical, Sanhe Technical Research, Shixie Electric, and Nexcom, to jointly sponsor prize money and their own products, providing young students with resources to apply to their competition entries. The number of sponsoring manufacturers nearly doubled from eight last year, and many manufacturers increased their sponsorship, with the total value exceeding 5 million yuan.
Over the years, the "Robot Creativity Competition" has attracted a total of 759 participating teams, with 3,736 participants, producing 278 new startup technologies, creative ideas, and technical energy, and actually driving more than eleven cases of industry-academia collaboration. This year's "Robot Creativity Competition" is divided into two groups: domestic industrial robots and creative smart applications of industrial robots. In addition to using domestic key components, the competing robots also use international robot product testing standards to plan competition items such as the positioning accuracy, repeat accuracy, reciprocating operation time, and actual pick-and-place of SCARA robots, guiding academic research results to have industrial value, thereby driving industrial development.
Deputy Director-General Lu Zhenghua of the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs stated that through the guidance of industry pioneers and the exploratory use of high-quality products, young people have the opportunity to understand the design and operation of robots by participating in the robot competition. With the professional guidance of engineers from various companies acting like senior schoolmates, the knowledge learned in school can be put to practical use, and industry technology can be actually tested. Students accumulate solid strength through the competition. Such competition experience and R&D process are precisely the inevitable path to the rise of new industry talents. When entering the workplace in the future, the differentiated advantages in competing with peers will certainly allow them to seize the initiative, become the first choice for talent scouts, and win the praise and favor of employers.
Because the theme of the "Robot Creativity Competition" combines theory and practice, schools can systematically and completely cultivate talent through three stages: curriculum training, hands-on competition participation, and integrated application, shortening students' preparation period for entering the workplace. In addition, during the competition, students use professional technology to solve problems, communicate, coordinate, and cooperate with their teams, and undergo on-the-spot response and pressure-resistance training, entering the workplace with strength. The Industrial Development Bureau encourages young students in colleges and universities to take those who have come before as learning role models, actively participate in the robot competition, and let the competition become a field for training real skills, obtaining a guaranteed ticket to the job market and boarding the express train to the workplace!
