"Matsu Riding Miracle. Low-Carbon Fun Travel" Electric Scooter Tourism Operation Launched

Since last year, government policy has planned to promote electric scooter rental tourism on the outlying islands. Up to now, among the 6 outlying islands of Matsu, Kinmen, Penghu, Green Island, Orchid Island and Xiaoliuqiu, apart from Orchid Island whose feasibility is still being assessed, all the other outlying islands have electric scooter rental operators entering the market, investing in the low-carbon tourism market.

For the Matsu area, the Bureau of Industrial Development has assisted Jun Meng International Co., Ltd. in forming a cross-industry alliance with the local Biao Ma Travel Agency to establish Matsu's first electric scooter rental operator, "Riding Miracle Rental Co., Ltd." On July 3, a "Matsu Riding Miracle. Low-Carbon Fun Travel Electric Scooter Tourism Operation Launch Press Conference" was held at the Matsu Nangan Visitor Center, and 200 China EM80 electric scooter models approved under the Ministry of Economic Affairs TES (Taiwan E-scooter Standard) were introduced, officially joining the ranks of low-carbon tourism on the outlying islands!

The Bureau of Industrial Development stated: Riding Miracle Rental Company will incorporate electric scooters into tourism itineraries, combine them with local featured guided tour services, and create diverse operating models to meet the needs of different customer groups, opening a new chapter for electric scooter operation on the outlying islands! At the same time, the Bureau of Industrial Development's Facebook fan page held the "Low-Carbon Love Trip, Fun Riding in Matsu" online event in May this year, inviting bloggers to personally ride electric scooters around Matsu and, through wonderful photos and text sharing, lead readers to experience it as if they were there!

Riding Miracle Rental Company has introduced the China Motor EM80 model, using domestically produced lithium ternary batteries. To serve tourists with different needs, it has set up operating bases in Qingshui Village on Nangan and Tangqi Village on Beigan, providing services such as vehicle management, charging, dispatch and delivery. Also, considering that travelers enter and exit at different points, it has launched flexible cross-island use plans such as renting at one location and returning at another, and touring all four islands (Nangan, Beigan, Dongyin, Dongju) for a daily rental of 500 yuan.

To promote electric scooter rental tourism on the outlying islands, since last year the Ministry of Economic Affairs has provided purchase subsidies for TES-approved small light-duty models of 7,200 yuan each, and light-duty and heavy-duty models of 10,000 yuan each. The Environmental Protection Administration also subsidizes individuals and rental operators 20,000 yuan for light-duty and heavy-duty models (decreasing year by year), and subsidizes individuals 9,000 yuan for small light-duty models (decreasing year by year); the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications also provides rental car subsidies for outlying island tourists, 100 yuan per person per month per vehicle trip (decreasing year by year). It is hoped that cross-ministerial resources can be integrated to encourage operators to respond to government policy and jointly promote electric scooter tourism on the outlying islands.

Matsu has a unique island atmosphere and many tourism highlights. Recently, by combining electric scooters with ecological guided tours, eco-friendly homestays, low-carbon tourism routes and other cross-industry alliances, it can further drive the development of the green economy while promoting tourism, and also contribute to a sustainable environment and ecological protection, jointly building Matsu into a "low-carbon LOHAS tourism island"!
