Business opportunities estimated at 50 billion! Biotech exhibition debuts with the largest scale in years

The "Agricultural Technology Pavilion" of the 2015 Taiwan International Biotechnology Exhibition was opened on July 23 by Deputy Chairman Chen Wen-te of the Council of Agriculture on the fourth floor of the Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall, kicking off a four-day event. Deputy Chairman Chen specially explained on site in a briefing session to guests and news media reporters the highlight R&D results with market potential and commercialization exhibited in this pavilion, and together with guests and news media reporters conducted a tour and introduction of the Agricultural Technology Pavilion's R&D results, to present the effectiveness of the Council of Agriculture in promoting agricultural technology R&D, enhancing the international competitiveness of the agricultural industry, and increasing the added value of agricultural products.

Biotech theme area exhibits draw attention

This 2015 Taiwan International Biotechnology Exhibition Agricultural Technology Pavilion is divided into two major areas: the Agricultural Biotechnology Theme Area and the Industrialization Zone. The Agricultural Biotechnology Theme Area is planned into six display theme areas according to their nature, including: "New Variety Cultivation and Breeding Technology - One Sowing, Ten Thousand Kinds of Farming Sentiment," "Safe Agricultural Production Technology - Using Care to Exchange for Peace of Mind," "Aquaculture and Ornamental Fish and Shrimp - Competing in Water, Splendor in Fish," "Agricultural Facility Technology - Meeting a Mobile Future," "Agricultural Biotechnology Value-Added Application Technology - Agricultural Plus Joy, Lighting Up Green Gold," and "Theme Imagery - Fast and Precise One-Minute Completion of Pesticide Residue Extraction and Purification Technology."

The theme pavilion exhibits a total of 45 recent R&D results, with highlights including: fast and precise one-minute completion of pesticide residue extraction and purification technology, bee pollination technology in agricultural facilities successfully applied to crops such as bitter gourd, strawberry, bell pepper and cucumber, facility micro-mist cooling and open-roof control technology, industrial duck oil extraction technology and duck oil product development with market uniqueness and competitiveness, grouper aquaculture model farm technology with cold protection and epidemic isolation functions, newly bred grouper species, and artificially propagated and cultured marine ornamental shrimp, etc. The various technologies exhibited this time fully demonstrate the commercialization R&D results of agricultural technology.

Unlimited business opportunities in the industry display area

The industry display area was jointly participated in by 24 companies from those stationed in the Pingtung Agricultural Biotechnology Park and the Agricultural Innovation Incubation Center. Among them, the companies selected for the golden triangle window of the Agricultural Technology Pavilion were Chunghwa Marine Biotechnology Co., Ltd., authorized by the Fisheries Research Institute of the Council of Agriculture for small-molecule fucoidan extraction technology, and Taiwan Animal Medicine International Co., Ltd., Taiwan's first professional pet cancer drug R&D company; the remaining companies also included Taiwan Fu Shrimp Industrial Co., Ltd., which leads the global ornamental shrimp market trend, and Sicheng Biotechnology Co., Ltd., which received technology authorization from the Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute of the Council of Agriculture for turnkey export of rapid pesticide residue testing technology, etc. The participation of these businesses concretely presented the effectiveness of the Council of Agriculture's administrative measures from upstream R&D to downstream industry guidance, gradually incubating agricultural technology into products or industries.

Interactive activities warmly liven up the scene

In order to let visiting members of the public experience the Council of Agriculture's innovative R&D results, during the four-day exhibition period from July 23 to 26, the Agricultural Technology Pavilion exhibition area held different themed activities every day at the main stage area, such as "Agricultural Biotechnology Theme Area Prize Quiz" and "Agricultural Biotechnology Value-Added Application Technology Product Tasting" and other interactive activities, allowing visiting members of the public to understand the Council of Agriculture's agricultural biotechnology R&D results and experience the latest innovative R&D products.
