Jianshi Peach Promotion: Hsinchu County Attracts Visitors

Through the end of July, it is the production season for Jianshi peaches in Hsinchu County. To help Indigenous people promote their sweet and delicious peaches, the Hsinchu County Government held events for two consecutive weekend days, attracting many visitors to buy peaches, eat peaches and tour the Indigenous hometown.

The Jianshi Township peach-producing area in Hsinchu County is located at an altitude above 1,200 to 1,500 m. The production areas are mainly in the two villages of Houshan Xiuluan and Yufeng, with a planting area of about 141 hectares. The varieties include Okubo, Nakatsu Hakuto, Shanghai Honey and Golden Peach. Among them, the Okubo variety accounts for 20 percent of production, Nakatsu Hakuto accounts for 20 percent, Shanghai Honey accounts for 40 percent, and Golden Peach accounts for only 20 percent. Thanks to Jianshi Township's innate geographical and climatic advantages, the peaches grown this year have an average sweetness of more than 12 degrees, and the fruit's appearance and quality are both quite outstanding.

Jianshi Township Mayor Yun Tianbao said: This year there has been less rainfall, so Jianshi Township peaches are especially sweet and fragrant, but production has decreased considerably compared with previous years. Visitors who want to eat peaches really need to act quickly.

In addition to delicious peaches, there are also Indigenous song and dance performances and performances by well-known Atayal singers. Skill competitions include Jianshi Karaoke Star and parent-child fun games. Around the venue there are also peach fruits, specialty agricultural products, Atayal handicrafts and Atayal food for sale. There are also prize quizzes, and the organizers provide exclusive limited-edition souvenirs, free tasting of peach beer, and activities to discover the secrets of facial tattoos. The evening event is at 7 p.m. at the Jianshi Township Jiale Bamboo House sales venue, with performances by singers including the Bazaliu Band, Pan Qianshu and You Shijie.
