Grow roses and jasmine like this, and they can bloom several times a year, with buds appearing nonstop
Grow roses like this, and they will bloom continuously, round after round!
1. Fertilize more to get more blooms
If you want roses to bloom abundantly, you must give them enough nutrients. Before roses bloom, be sure to apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to encourage the roses to differentiate more flower buds. If you are growing them in the ground, you can buy some fish intestines, dig a hole away from the rose roots, and bury the fish intestines in it.
2. Prune frequently to get more blooms
(1) Pruning after flowering
After roses bloom, you must promptly prune off the spent flowers to avoid consuming nutrients, and at the same time encourage the roses to send out more new branches, thereby promoting the next round of blooming. Generally, make an inward slanting cut 0.5cm above the 3 leaves below the flower.
(2) Horizontally pull the main branches
If your rose only has a few main branches, then it will naturally bloom very little. At this point you can pull the branches horizontally, using stones or wire to pull the main branches down toward both sides. This can promote the growth of more buds, so the rose sends out more new branches and thus blooms more!
3. Pay attention to shading in summer
If you want roses to bloom abundantly in summer too, you must pay attention to shading and keep the temperature around the roses below 35°C so they will not go dormant. In summer, you can put up a layer of shade netting for the roses, or place a larger flowerpot outside the existing pot, so the roses can get through summer safely and keep blooming through the hottest days!
4. Water frequently to get more blooms
Summer temperatures are high and water evaporates relatively quickly, so in summer you must be sure to water roses more. If the roses are potted, water about once every 2-4 days; if they are planted in the ground, water 1-2 times a day. Watering can be done in the morning and evening, and never at noon.
Grow jasmine like this, and it can bloom 3-4 times a year!
1. Fertilize more to get more blooms
If you want jasmine to bloom abundantly, you must fertilize more. Apply a 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution about once every 20 days. When repotting jasmine, you can also mix some worm castings or bone meal into the potting soil, which can also serve to supplement fertilizer efficiency.
2. Prune frequently to get more blooms
(1) Pruning after flowering
After jasmine blooms, promptly cut off the spent flowers, basically cutting promptly from the position 2-4 pairs of leaves below the spent jasmine flowers, to avoid unnecessary nutrient consumption.
(2) Pruning leggy branches and blind branches
As jasmine keeps growing, if you find leggy branches, or old, diseased, or weak branches, prune them promptly. Only in this way can you continuously adjust the shape of the jasmine plant and make the whole pot of jasmine look better!
3. Give more sun to get more blooms
As the saying goes, jasmine cannot be killed by sun. If you want jasmine to bloom abundantly, you usually need to give it more sun. It is best to keep it on a south-facing balcony or south-facing windowsill, ensuring more than 6 hours of light each day. But when summer temperatures are especially high, you still need to pay a little attention to shading.
4. Water frequently in summer to get more blooms
In summer, water evaporates quickly, and since it is always getting plenty of sun, you must ensure sufficient water. About 1-2 waterings a day is enough. Generally, you can choose to water the roots in the evening and then mist the leaves once early in the morning, ensuring sufficient moisture.
