New Taipei City 2016 first large-scale picnic event in Taiwan: Dear_Let's Go Picnicking
Spring 2016 begins romantically with the "New Taipei Picnic Day" event! For genuine interpersonal interaction and a beautiful life experience, the New Taipei City Tourism and Travel Department will hold a large-scale picnic event open to citizens free of charge on March 5 (Saturday) at Greater Taipei Metropolitan Park - Happiness Water Park (next to Sanchong MRT Station). With the theme "Dear_Let's Go Picnicking," six main program strands are planned: "Picnic Music," "Delicious Vegetarian Food," "Art Experience," "Local Stories," "Pink-Collar Health" and "Picnic Paradise." Citizens are invited to bring their "dear ones," carry a book, a basket of food and a picnic mat to the largest park lawn in Taiwan, and enjoy the warmth of a spring picnic on the grass together!
The paper-cut work once created for the August 8 Typhoon Morakot disaster led New Taipei local resident Hsiao Ching-yang to win the Red Dot Design Award from Germany, known as the "Oscars of the design world." He stated: "Germans recognize me, Americans recognize me. I am very happy, but I hope even more to do something for Taiwan, to give play to my 'love for the land,' and through design to show a comfortable, humane and friendly Taiwan." Therefore he served as the chief designer of this event, creating infinite imagination for the beautiful life of Sanchong and Luzhou locals.
Tourism and Travel Department Director Chen Kuo-chun said: "Picnicking in Taiwan's largest park, there is sunlight that high walls cannot block, and a breeze that tall buildings cannot stop. You don't need to worry about crowds, and you won't feel like a small blade of grass squeezed into a crack in the city. The vast lawn is open for you." He strongly recommended that people make use of holidays to picnic at Greater Taipei Metropolitan Park, which spans Sanchong, Luzhou and other districts. On the day of "New Taipei Picnic Day," six main program strands that give play to dynamism, art and infinite imagination will be planned: "Picnic Music," "Delicious Vegetarian Food," "Art Experience," "Local Stories," "Pink-Collar Health" and "Picnic Paradise." They have also thoughtfully worked to prepare the best picnic location standards of 2 green areas and 1 water source (a large lawn, shade or green shade, and a water source convenient for washing), and have added a women-only dressing area at the picnic site, leading the public to experience together the diverse uses of Greater Taipei Metropolitan Park for recreation and physical and mental relaxation.
